Who We Are
The Heart Of Pathways
Pathways is dedicated to empowering women and children experiencing homelessness by providing shelter, support, and resources that promote long-term stability. As the oldest continuously operating agency in Birmingham serving women and children, we are committed to creating a compassionate and supportive environment where families can begin their journey toward hope and healing.
OUR PURPOSE
A Beacon of Hope for Women and Children
At Pathways, our mission is to empower women and children experiencing homelessness on their path out of housing instability through hospitality, hope, and housing. We believe that everyone deserves a safe and dignified place to call home, and we work tirelessly to make that a reality.
OUR VISION
A Birmingham Free of Homelessness
We envision a Birmingham free of homelessness, where every woman and child has access to safe, stable housing and the resources needed to thrive. We are committed to supporting women and children experiencing homelessness with compassion, dignity, and care. Through strong partnerships, innovative programs, and an unwavering dedication to our mission, we aim to make homelessness a rare occurrence and ensure that hope and empowerment are at the heart of our community.
OUR STORY: THE PATHWAYS LEGACY
Our Story Of Hope And Transformation
In the early 1980s, the number of women and children experiencing homelessness in Birmingham was both startling and growing. Pathways was founded to fill this critical gap, providing essential daytime services for women experiencing homelessness. Over the years, Pathways has grown into a comprehensive agency serving women and children experiencing homelessness, merging with other nonprofits to expand its reach and impact. Today, we remain dedicated to empowering women and children through a range of supportive programs.
